Get to Know Dr. Sonya Shafique

Dr. Sonya Shafique is a native New Englander. She grew up in a small New Hampshire town on Lake Winnipesaukee, and attended the University of Vermont for her undergraduate education. She then moved to the city of Boston for her dental school training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. In her final year of training at Tufts, she was selected to pursue advanced training in implant surgery, prosthetics and the use of digital technology for restoring lost dentition. Upon graduating from Tufts, she received both awards in academic distinctions, as well as in clinical excellence from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

After completing her doctorate, Dr. Shafique moved to Manhattan to complete a general practice residency at New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medicine, followed by a one year advanced continuing education program in dental implant surgery. She is an active member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics. Dr. Shafique loves that her profession is a combination of art and medicine. She is passionate about helping her patients to achieve their personal goals in a pain-free and relaxed environment.

There’s nothing that Dr. Shafique enjoys more than the outdoors, no matter which season we are in. When she is out of the office, you can find her hiking, snowboarding, or on a boat somewhere!
